put in wrong box

oops Posted by Hello

so. i'm fortunate enough to correspond by good ol' fashioned letter writing with my pal e. and although it has been a bit sparse these past few months, i feel it picking up again this wintery season. anyway. it's great. there really is something very.. nice.. about handwritten letters.

the envelope pictured above was sitting on the top of our postal boxes. all taped up with the apology written on it. and smeared with. chocolate? hopefully. now. the thing is. my name and address (with specific apartment number) is written in large, very clear letters. her name is written in very clear letters. it's all very. clear. i have no idea how someone could see something like that and open it thinking it was addressed to them. i know there are other chicks out there with my name (i know because she used to pay my late movie fees when i was in college) but i'm pretty sure none of them live in my building. it's all very strange. plus our mailperson has a really hard time deciphering which box goes to which people. even though they are all very clearly numbered. clearly. i've received other folks' mail. but i've never accidentally opened it.

oh. and i found my current issue of harper's in the junk mail trash can that sits directly under our postal boxes. someone obviously got this in their box and since it wasn't addressed to them, threw it away? this doesn't make much sense to me. because it very obviously isn't something that would be addressed to "current resident". i'm wondering where my orion is.

weirdos. at least they said they were "very sorry".

and people wonder why the United States Postal Service is struggling....I don't like it when people open my mail....but at least they recognized the worth of this and didn't just toss it in the trash.

hehe, Katie did something even better when we moved in here. She didnt realize that we share our mailbox with the person downstairs, so she took all of his mail, wrote "Not on this address" on everything, and then removed his name from the mailbox. Hehe... then I told her and she wrote him a letter apologizing, saying that she didn't mean to steal and tamper with all of his mail.. Funny.
