occupy my time
jamming nun.
(check out the newest addition to the small aci-dominated blogging community.. i call him Juby, he calls himself other things.. lots of people call him Jubba.. he's a great writer and his summer salad recipe is delightful indeed)
yes. my final project for my choral conducting & methods class read like this:
"Design for your chorus(es) and rehearsal room a visual aid that can assist in introducing or reinforcing concepts and relationships leading to understanding music history. These may include dates, composers, countries, music of stature, pictures and pertinent occurrences in the political or artistic life of the Western World. Be careful to make your visual aid large enough to be effective in a classroom"
so i did. i made "concert posters" for each musical era. renaissance, classical, romantic, etc.. six in total.. i wanted to do something pop cultureish to help students pay more attention to them.. something they're more likely to see, relate to and then remember.. something cooler than a timeline.. so i spent approximately 12 hours straight sitting in my chair in front of my computer screen working with photoshop.. e helped out considerably, giving me photoshop tutorials, constructive criticism and aesthetic suggestions.. she also provided me with the jamming nun.. which i think is pretty cool.. jamming on her headphones..
i'm really quite proud of myself and the final product.. i had them printed up at kinkos (which was a nightmare in and of itself) at 18x20.. it was a costly assignment, but i consider it an investment - i'm sure i'll have these things hanging up somewhere for a long time.. hehe.. it's nice to end a stressful few days with something to be proud of..
the rest are on flickr..
i have one more final to take this afternoon. pretty damn exciting.
that's. yep.
