chilly in chile

so. i'm back from peru.

i had a great time. it's hard not to when you're hanging out with two of your best friends.. (big sis and pete)

(i don't have loads of internet access and will not until sometime after this weekend.. i'm moving all of my stuff again this weekend into a lovely li'l townhouse on the river.. i'm extremely excited about this new place.. anyway.. there will be more pictures soon..)

i'll tell stories soon..

the picture showcases my presence on a beach in chile.. my sister and i spent a few hours finding seashells and building castle S.S. Anthrax.. it wasn't too cold (even though it's winter down in that part of the world right now..) but slightly overcast.. it was pretty nice.. we were in the city of arica (about a half an hour cab ride from tacna, peru) and ate the best chocolate cake ever. (Ever.) we actually had it twice. once for a late night snack and the next day at lunch. it was so good it hurt. (actually the pain in my estomago probably because of the coca-cola i was drinking.. oh the glories of not wanting to drink the water and drinking pretty much just coca-cola instead.)

they say that the chileans have a different accent than peruvians.. i couldn't tell the difference.. i was too busy trying to pick out words i understood.. the restaurant with the chocolate cake could be considered a touristy place.. you can bet on there being at least one other group of gringos and they gave us menus in english.. but if you ignore anyone speaking spanish and don't look outside, you could be in any restaurant in america.. hehe..

i saw gypsies.. you have to be careful around them or they will pat you down, reach in your pockets all the while asking you for money.. this happened to pete and he gave the woman money and everything and she still wouldn't leave him alone.. very persistent, these gypsies..

anyway.. i'm working on my new apartmentmate's computer (in her apartment, my temporary residence) and wouldn't want to take advantage of her hospitality..

more soon. i promise.

How do you spot a gypsy, as compared say to a panhandler?
