Best Kept Secret

the newest member of "the jones" clan.

one more reason why i haven't updated. but as far as i'm concerned, it's the best reason i'll ever have for anything.

i know. having a child should be celebrated from the mountaintops, but i was afraid of having one of those "mommy blogs" that only talk about being pregnant and how cute the li'l thing was when he was born, The Birth Story, blah blah blah...

but when i got this picture taken by a pal with her camera phone a couple of weeks after li'l Gabe (gabriel conor, to be exact) was born, i thought it was a picture worthy of "outing" the best thing to happen to me.. although i look like the haggard new mother in the photo, he looks cute as hell. cause he is. cute. as hell.

(cute as hell really doesn't sound like a good thing to me. but people say it. so i'm saying it.)

and well. it hasn't been easy. motherhood suits me, i guess, but i thank god that my mom was a mom. she's been an enormous source of information.. and everyone else is always willing to throw in their two cents..

(oh. and speaking of everyone else.. thanks to everyone who helped out with diapers (even those of you who made fun of me for using cloth instead of disposable.. i swear, i'm not a hippie.) and everything else.. i've had such a great support team through all of this and when you guys have kids, i'll totally be there. ha. and big big thanks to dani.. i can't thank her enough for being willing to live with a new kid..)

and i know.. travelling to foreign countries while nearing the end of my term, leaving my kid with his grandparents while i galavant off to the desert for a few days, it all seems pretty selfish.. but i figured i'd have to go now before it was too late..

speaking of too late.. i need to grab some winks.. the li'l bugger's asleep and well.. i can only sleep when he does..
