road trip

just a few photos from my recent trip up to idaho..

hazel trying to get some sleep while on the road.. she did pretty well, but i could tell she was getting tired of the constant shaking.. we had a good time.. she got to meet some fellow rats.. (although she seemed like she could really care less about hanging out.. she wanted to explore more than play.)

a lot of people complain about that drive, between nevada and idaho.. but i love the huge open space that unfolds as you move across oregon.. i think taking this trip with two foreigners (the irish and northern irish) helped with the appreciation.. i remember ronan's amazement as we crossed the desert, eyes wide at how far you can see.. and when craig and i stopped out in the middle of nowhere to look at the night sky he was in awe of how many stars we could see.. he'd never been to a place that didn't have any light pollution at all.. growing up on the emerald isle will do that.. while there are parts of that island that aren't heavily populated, those aren't as far apart as you'd think..

and getting back to the ol' alma mater was surreal, as usual.. the class that graduated was the last group of 'kids' i really knew.. it was a nice ceremony, for the most part, and i had a good time with some old friends, some i hadn't seen in years..

but.. here i am.. back in reno.. i do have to say that whenever i go up to boise, it affirms that while i love the city of trees, i also really like living in the biggest little city.. even though i can't find a good mojito here, the sushi is definitely better..
