oh.. just where ever is fine..
up the road.
now. this photo was taken on monday. tuesday morning i awoke to another few inches of snow on the ground and getting to work looked pretty slim. i waited it out. the sun started shining and made the trip in to the office a little less scary.
i like how this photo demonstrates the lackadaisical parking jobs so many people on my street have decided are fine. they sort of skid off the road, i imagine and just leave their vehicles slightly stuck in the snowbank. i wake up the next morning to the sound of their tires spinning and squealing away desperately. (a sound i've been waking up to nearly every morning since the 29th or so of december)
i'm just glad that our street had finally been plowed (happened early monday morning) and we had at least one clear lane to drive on. which is the case throughout the city. all over there are lanes missing, confusing drivers and pedestrians. most bus people (i nod my head in appreciation of them using public transport) are forced to stand in gargantuan snow drifts waiting for the bus to move along. this weekend i was in soundwave cds (local independent cd store.. woo hoo!) and heard a guy say it had taken him six hours to get there by bus.. and from what i gathered, he didn't live that far from this place.. i can't believe he stayed with it for so long.. i think i may've given up after, like, hour three.
so driving around for the ol' job is a bit more.. exciting.. it seems to take longer since a lot of the streets have been converted into one laners and everyone is driving a tad slower. which is a good thing. it took me something like ten minutes to find a place to park anywhere near the city building because all of the street parking is taken up by snow banks and all of the lot parking was full..
anyway.. it'll melt.. by march, maybe. i think the huge piles in the casino parking lots will be there until june or so.. they're taller than some of the semi's parked near them.
that's where you'll find me now. staying off the roads whenever possible and chuckling at the people who're still getting stuck.
