frozen. bush.

the not-so-glamorous winter Posted by Hello

i took a walk around my neighborhood yesterday after feeling a little too stir crazy and took some photos with my cameras. the color scheme, it seems, for all of the pictures is this weird brownish color and white. it's not so winterwonderlandy around here anymore. we've hit the point where all of the snow is hard and sharp, black or brown and the slush in the streets is iridescent and oily gray and brown.

this picture is of this bush that sits below a drip off of an apartment building. there's an ice slick on the ground below the frozen bush that is this light brown color and the frozen bits of plant were mostly brown, rarely clear. makes me wonder what exactly is dripping onto the thing in the first place. it looks.. poisonous.

It almost looks like plastic at first glance. At this point though, I would even like some gross frozen snow over the 1/4 of an inch we have had so far this winter.

The Mississippi, Amazon, Nile, all the great rivers also display this rich brown color, so maybe the stuff is rich in nutrients, then again, probably not.
